Insulation foam in a roll with a thickness of 5 mm and a width of 1.2 m, also called a thermal insulation screen, is made of polyethylene foam covered on both sides with aluminium foil. It is designed for insulating the ceiling under the installation of heating foil or heating mats for underfloor heating beneath laminate flooring or ceramic tile flooring.
When combined with heating foil, it replaces 8 cm thick mineral wool insulation or 11 cm thick polystyrene insulation.
The foam is installed on a prepared, clean, and even surface of the screed or another specially prepared surface for floor finishing, such as special insulated construction boards.
